FIRST, WE TALK.
A straightforward approach to carbon assessment. Here is what to expect at each stage.
Step 1: Initial Conversation
It starts with a call. We will ask about your business, why you need an assessment, and whether you have any specific requirements such as tender deadlines or client requests that are driving this.
By the end of the call, you will know exactly what is involved, approximately what it will cost, and whether we are the right fit for what you need. If we are not, we will tell you. There is no obligation at this stage.
Step 2: Data Collection
You Share Your Data
-
12 months of energy bills
(electricity, gas)
-
Business travel records
(flights, trains, mileage claims)
-
Vehicle or fleet information
(company cars)
-
Vehicle or fleet information if you have company cars
-
Employee commuting patterns
(we can estimate this if you do not have exact figures)
We send you a questionnaire covering your energy use, travel, and operations. Most of it you will have to hand already: energy bills, travel records, and similar documentation. Some elements may require a quick check with your accountant or office manager.
If you encounter any difficulties, simply ask. Our team is available to help you determine what counts, what does not, and where to find the numbers you need.
Step 3: Calculation
We Calculate Your Carbon Emissions
Once we have your data, our team gets to work. We apply the GHG Protocol methodology to calculate your emissions across Scope 1, 2, and whichever Scope 3 categories are relevant to your business.
This is not a quick online calculator where you enter numbers and receive an instant answer. We review your data, check for gaps or inconsistencies, and ensure the final numbers are accurate and defensible. If something does not look right, we will come back to you before we finalise anything.
Step 4: Your Report
You Receive Your Report
After we receive your complete data, you will have your finished assessment.
This includes:
-
Your total carbon footprint in tonnes CO2e
-
A breakdown by scope and emission source
-
Practical recommendations for reduction
-
Vehicle or fleet information if you have company cars
-
A Carbon Reduction Plan document if you need one for tenders
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Looking for answers? Explore our help section or contact us if you need more support.
How Long Does The Process Take?
The main variable is usually how quickly you can gather your data. If you have your energy bills and travel records organised, things move faster. If you need to chase information from different departments or search through old files, it takes a bit longer.
What If I Have A Tight Deadline?
If you have a tight deadline for a tender, let us know upfront. We can often prioritise urgent requests.
What Data Will I Need To Provide?
We handle the technical work, but we need information from you to ensure the assessment is accurate. Typical data we require:
- 12 months of energy bills (electricity, gas)
- Business travel records (flights, trains, mileage claims)
- Vehicle or fleet information if you have company cars
- Waste and recycling estimates
- Employee headcount and office locations
- Employee commuting patterns (we can estimate this if you do not have exact figures)
How Much Time Will This Take From My Team?
Most clients spend a few hours total gathering what we need. It is not a massive time commitment, but it does require someone to sit down and pull the information together.
What If I Cannot Find Some Of The Data?
We can assist with estimating where exact data is not available, explaining what counts and what does not, and tracking down the right numbers when you are not sure where to look.
